Users, roles, and invitations

Everyone who is paged, acknowledges, or edits anything in AlertKick is a user in your workspace. Users are managed under Admin, then Users. There is no per-seat charge on any plan; each plan carries a user allowance instead (see Plans and billing).

AlertKick has two roles.

RoleShown asMeaning
AdminAdmin badgeWorkspace administration: billing, integrations, users, plan changes, AI settings
UserUser badgeEverything needed to be on call: see servers, monitors, alerts, and incidents, acknowledge and resolve, manage their own notification channels and quiet hours

The role is a switch on the invite and edit forms labelled Admin role. The first user in a workspace is an admin. Give admin to the people who will manage billing and integrations, and leave everyone on the rota as a user.

Admin, then Users, then Invite. The form asks for:

  • Full name
  • Email - the invitation and every later notification go here
  • Admin role switch

Sending the invite creates the account immediately, so the person can be added to rosters and escalation policies before they have signed in. They receive an email with a registration link; until they follow it and set a password, their status shows as unverified. Resend Invite on their edit page sends the email again.

You must have verified your own email before you can invite others; the API refuses with “Verify your email before inviting other users” until you have.

Invited users can also sign in with Google or GitHub, provided the OAuth account’s email matches the invited address, and with the mobile app by scanning a QR code from the web dashboard. See Mobile app.

Open a user from the list to change:

  • Full name and Email
  • User Timezone - used for the on-call timeline, calendar feeds, quiet hours, and Follow the Sun shifts. Set it correctly for everyone on a rota.
  • User Color - the colour their name takes on schedules and calendars; Generate random color picks one
  • Admin role

Each person manages their own notification channels, verification, and quiet hours under Settings; see Profile and notification settings.

Delete on the edit page asks for confirmation and then removes the user. The removal is a soft delete: the record is retained for audit and the person disappears from the user list, rosters, and escalation policies. Before deleting someone who is on a rota, check the roster preview so a shift is not left uncovered.

The allowance is visible under Admin, then Billing in the usage summary. It is not a price: nobody is billed per seat, and a bigger allowance is a plan step. Workspaces that need more than 25 can ask for a limit override through support.

AlertKick’s own operators can, with your consent during a support case, open a time-limited impersonation session into a workspace to reproduce a problem. Every such session requires a stated reason, lasts at most 30 minutes, and logs every request it makes. It is not something a workspace admin can initiate or grant to another user.
