Plans and billing

Billing is priced by infrastructure, never by seat. Every plan includes on-call rosters, escalation policies, and alerts in from every source; the paid plans buy the agent, more checks, SMS and WhatsApp paging, AI triage, and longer retention. Manage it all under Admin, then Billing and Admin, then Plans. Public prices are on alertkick.com/pricing.

Every paid plan is monthly with no contract, and the first 30 days are refundable in full. The Data Region shown on the billing page (US East, EU Central, or Asia-Pacific) is fixed at sign-up.

A new workspace starts on a 30-day trial with every Business feature and no card. The billing page counts down the days. When the trial ends, either upgrade or do nothing: the workspace moves to the Free plan, your first 5 monitors and 5 heartbeats keep running, the rest are paused (not deleted), and agent-based hosts stop being monitored until a paid plan is chosen.

Admin, then Plans lists the three plans with a live cost estimator for hosts, checks, the compliance add-on, and retention.

  • Free activates immediately - no card, no checkout.
  • Professional and Business open Stripe Checkout. Once paid, the plan applies at once and metering starts.

Moving between plans is a plan change on the same page. Upgrades apply immediately; downgrades take effect at the next billing cycle.

The base price covers the included allowances. Above them, paid plans meter monthly on actual usage:

UnitPrice
Additional host with the agent£5.00 a month
Additional uptime monitor£1.00 a month
Additional heartbeat£1.00 a month
AI triage event over the allowance£0.02 each
SMS5p per message
Extended retention50p per host per unit (see below)

Hosts, monitors, and heartbeats are metered on the peak count in the period; AI events are summed. The AI Analysis Usage section on the billing page shows events used, the included allowance, the billable overage, and the estimated charge, and breaks usage down by agent type. You can set a monthly AI spend cap under Admin, then LLM Settings; when it is reached, analysis pauses and events are still collected.

On Admin, then Plans, the Data Retention selector offers Plan default, 6 months (£1.00 per host per month), 12 months (£2.50), and 24 months (£5.00). Choose one and Apply retention change. The tiers are available on paid plans only, and the retention window sets how long host metrics and event history are kept.

Creating something beyond the plan returns a clear message rather than silently failing. A monitor over the allowance answers “Monitor limit reached. Your plan allows N monitors. Please upgrade to add more”, with a link to the plans page; heartbeats and hosts behave the same way. On Free, adding a host answers “Agent-based server monitoring is not included in your current plan. It is included in the 30-day trial and on paid plans.” AI assistants get the same message back when they call add_server.

The user allowance is shown in the usage summary. Workspaces that need a higher limit on any resource without changing plan can ask support for a limit override.

Admin, then Billing shows:

  • Current Plan with the plan name, data region, price, and current period, and the buttons Change Plan, Manage Billing, and Cancel Subscription (or Reactivate Subscription).
  • Module switches for eBPF Security and CDE Compliance where the plan includes them.
  • AI Analysis Usage, described above.
  • Payment methods, managed through the Stripe billing portal that Manage Billing opens.
  • Invoice History with date, amount, status, and a link to each hosted invoice PDF.

Cancel Subscription asks for a reason from a short list and a note of at least 100 characters, then cancels at Stripe. Within the first 30 days the refund is full; after that the subscription runs to the end of the paid period. The workspace then follows the trial-end path above: Free plan, first 5 monitors and 5 heartbeats keep running, hosts stop being monitored. Reactivate Subscription undoes a pending cancellation.

Deleting the whole workspace is a separate action under Settings, then Danger Zone.
