Profile and notification settings

Settings (top-right menu, or /settings) is per person. Admins manage users, billing, and integrations elsewhere; this page is what every user sets for themselves, and it is where a new teammate should go first so that a page can actually reach them.

The tabs, in order: Profile, API Keys, Password, Notifications, Email, Preferences, Sign in on mobile, Danger Zone, Connected apps.

FieldNotes
Display NameHow your name appears throughout the application
EmailWhere invitations, email notifications, and password resets go
TimezoneDrives the on-call timeline, your calendar feed, quiet hours, and Follow the Sun shifts. Get this right before joining a roster.
User ColorThe colour your name takes on schedules and calendars; Random picks one

Save Profile applies; Reset discards unsaved edits.

The Notifications tab lists every channel AlertKick can reach you on, with a switch per channel and, for the personal channels, a verification step. Which channels are used for a given alert is decided by the escalation policy; this tab decides whether a channel can reach you at all, and is what the Notify Person recipient type reads.

ChannelSetup
WebIn-app notifications; always available
AppMobile push; needs the mobile app signed in on a device
EmailYour profile email; no verification beyond the account’s own
TelegramVerify once with the bot (below)
WhatsAppVerify your number (below)
SMSConsent, then verify your number (below)
  1. Turn on Telegram and choose Get Verification Code. Enter your Telegram Username (the @name in your Telegram profile).
  2. The dialog shows a 6-digit code that expires in 10 minutes.
  3. Open @AlertKickerBot in Telegram (the Open @AlertKickerBot button links to it), press Start if this is your first conversation with it, and send the code - either on its own or as /verify 123456.
  4. Back in the dialog choose I’ve Sent the Code.

If the dialog answers “Verification not completed yet”, the bot has not received the code: check the username matches and that you sent it to @AlertKickerBot, not to a group. Pages then arrive as bot messages with a severity marker, the alert title, the message, and the time.

Turn on WhatsApp, enter your Phone Number in international format with the country code (+441234567890), and choose Request Verification Code. A 6-digit code arrives on WhatsApp within a few seconds; enter it in Verification Code and choose Verify. Codes expire after 10 minutes.

Pages use an approved WhatsApp template, so they are delivered even when you have not messaged the AlertKick number in the last 24 hours.

SMS follows the same steps as WhatsApp with one addition: consent. Before the number is accepted you must tick “I agree to receive text messages from AlertKick for verification codes and operational alerts.” The dialog spells out what you will receive - one-time codes and the operational alerts routed to you by your on-call schedule, roster, and escalation paths - and that message and data rates may apply.

Replying STOP to any AlertKick SMS opts the number out and turns the channel off; replying START clears the opt-out but the channel stays off until you verify again. Reply HELP for help. The consent timestamp is kept on your account for carrier compliance.

Numbers must carry a country code; a number without + or 00 is rejected as ambiguous. SMS is available on Professional and Business and is metered per message; see Plans and billing.

At the bottom of the Notifications tab, Enable quiet hours with a Start Time (default 22:00), End Time (default 08:00), and Timezone. Windows that cross midnight work as written.

Inside the window, the personal channels aimed at you - mobile push and Telegram - are held back rather than delivered. Email still delivers, and SMS and WhatsApp escalation levels still fire, so an escalation policy can always get through when it needs to. Allow critical alerts lets critical-severity pages bypass the window. Suppressed pages are recorded on the alert, so “why did nobody get me” always has an answer. A window whose start equals its end is treated as disabled.

Password changes your password. Email has two settings for the notification emails you receive: Coalesce email notifications, which bundles a burst of alerts into fewer messages, and Email format (Plain text or HTML).

One switch: Advanced Mode, which unlocks the deeper security surfaces in the dashboard - security profiles, compliance rules, and per-rule overrides. Leave it off unless you are tuning detection; see Customizing detection rules.

Shows a QR code that signs the mobile app into your account without typing a password.

Lists the AI assistants and MCP clients authorised against your account through OAuth - the hosted Claude connector, for example - with the option to revoke each one. See Claude & MCP connector.

Delete Account deletes the whole workspace: every user, host, monitor, alert, and record, and it cancels any active paid subscription. It asks you to type the workspace subdomain to confirm. There is no undo; export what you need first. Removing a single person is done under Users, not here.
