Mobile Terms of Service

Last updated: June 1, 2026

About this program

AlertKick operates an SMS messaging program ("the Program") that delivers operational alerts and one-time verification codes to users who have explicitly opted in by entering and verifying their mobile number in their AlertKick account. These terms govern your use of the Program. By opting in you agree to these terms and to AlertKick's general Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

What you'll receive

After opting in you'll receive SMS messages from AlertKick for the following purposes:

  • Verification codes (OTP) - short-lived numeric codes sent when you verify your phone number, sign in, or perform a sensitive account action.
  • Operational alerts - incident, monitor, and infrastructure alerts routed to you based on your personal on-call schedule, your team's on-call rota, and the escalation paths configured in your AlertKick account.

We do not send marketing SMS through the Program.

How to opt in

Opt-in happens inside your AlertKick account: open Notification Settings, enter your mobile number for the SMS channel, tick the consent checkbox confirming you agree to receive messages, then enter the verification code we send to confirm the number. Your consent timestamp is recorded as part of your account record.

Message frequency

Message frequency varies. Verification messages are sent on demand when you request a code; alert messages are sent only when your configured monitors trigger and the alert is routed to you. Heavy on-call shifts can produce many messages in a short period; quiet periods produce none. Configure quiet hours and severity overrides in Notification Settings to limit volume.

Message and data rates

Message and data rates may apply. Your mobile carrier is the source of truth for any charges associated with sending or receiving SMS; AlertKick does not control or reimburse those charges. Contact your carrier if you have questions about your plan's SMS allowance.

Opt-out and help

You can stop messages at any time by replying with one of these keywords:

  • STOP (also: STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT) - opts your number out. We immediately disable SMS notifications on every AlertKick account that uses this number, and you'll receive a final acknowledgement message.
  • HELP - replies with help text and contact information.
  • START (or YES, UNSTOP) - clears the opt-out marker on your number. To begin receiving messages again you'll need to re-verify the number through Notification Settings; opting back in via SMS alone is not enough.

You can also disable the SMS channel at any time in Notification Settings without sending an SMS reply.

Supported carriers

The Program operates over major mobile carriers in the regions where AlertKick is offered. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery is best-effort and depends on the carrier, the recipient's device state, and roaming conditions; do not rely on SMS as the sole delivery channel for critical alerts. AlertKick supports several other notification channels (email, mobile push, Telegram, WhatsApp, webhooks) and we recommend pairing SMS with at least one of them for redundancy.

Privacy

Information sent and received via the Program is handled as described in our Privacy Policy. We do not sell or share your mobile number with third parties for marketing purposes; numbers are shared only with the SMS provider that delivers our messages and with AlertKick personnel for operational support.

Eligibility

You must be the authorised account holder for the mobile number you opt in. Submitting a number you do not control violates these terms and AlertKick's general Terms of Service.

Changes to these terms

AlertKick may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or the in-app notification surface; continued use of the SMS channel after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
